Drinking the cup of blood comes at great cost.  Matthew 27:27-31

  • His message was clearly understood by both Jew and Gentiles that He was King.
    • The wrath of the heart is to protect one’s personal authority.
    • We mock that which makes us feel uncomfortable.
    • It will be humiliating when the reality of who He is understood.
    • “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing…”
      Luke 23:34
  • His first crown draws blood.
    • Beaten over the head repeatedly.

He drank of this cup of great cost to provide a crown for you.

  • Now we live a life to His glory to receive a crown that lasts forever.

1 Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”

  • People we lead to Christ become a crown.

Philippians 4:1 “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!”

1 Thessalonians 2:19For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?

  • Suffering with him and for him will be a crown.

2 Timothy 2:11b-12a “…If we died with him, we will also live with him;  if we endure,
we will also reign with him…”

  • Persevering under trial will be a crown of life.

James 1:12 “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

  • Upon his return our new bodies will be a crown of glory.

1 Peter 5:4 “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”

  • Being faithful even to the point of death will be a crown.

Revelation 2:10 “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.”

We receive these crowns to give them back knowing we are not worthy.  He alone is worthy!  Revelation 4:6-11

He is worthy!  He is King.  He is the King of Kings.  We crown him.  Any crowns we might receive are due him.

Dramatic Reading Revelation 19:1-16

Song- All Hail King Jesus

Benediction

Revelation 21:1-4Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.  He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new! ” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.”
