Trust Equation

Every day we have decisions to make. The decision you arrive at, is it based upon the confidence you have in your own understanding in what to do, or do you trust God completely for helping you to make the right decision?

Philippians 4:9, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

With our limited wisdom to choose the right course, only God has a limitless understanding on what is best for us.

How can I begin trusting God more instead of trying to work everything out on my own?

  • It begins with the words in verse 5, “with all your heart.”

Matthew 22:36-37, “which is the greatest commandment in the Law? And Jesus replies, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

  • Develop submitting and acknowledging God’s presence and involvement in your life
“In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Verse 6
  • Make sure you have centered your life around God and not built your life around something else
  • When pain, suffering, and chaos abound, God is still there and can direct us through those difficult times.
  • Habakkuk 3:17-18, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Application

  • What area of your life do you find it difficult to trust God?
  • When faced with this area of your life, what do you start trying verses trusting God?
  • Confess to God your failure to trust Him
  • Allow God to guide you through every challenge that is before you
