Sermon Notes and Discussion Guide
Luke 10:1-3 “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.”
“It’s not all about you.”
I have heard this many times:
Exodus 3:7-11
“Who am I that I should go…?” Moses struggled with the assignment he was being given from God. (11)
Exodus 3:12-22
“Suppose I go…” Let’s talk this out. Let me help you understand why I am not your guy. (13)
Exodus 4:1-17 Moses pokes at the plan.
Jesus has told each of us to “go—it’s time to save the world.”
Set your mind on who God is and what He can do. Luke 12:4-7, 11-12
This could be your story. Luke 10:16-24
Believers: Go! Place your confidence in who God is and what He can do. It’s not about you, but about others who need Him too.
Unbelievers: We have all been recipients of someone sharing Jesus with us. We are grateful for it. Don’t underestimate the challenge they may have had in sharing with you. You might even be here at the invitation of someone. Perhaps, your “I am” statement keeps you from coming to Jesus.
Benediction: Moses’ priestly blessing for a “going” nation.
Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
