HANDS AND FEET MINISTRY

Special Needs & Disability Ministry for Children

WHAT IS THE HANDS AND FEET MINISTRY?

In LEFC's Kids Ministry, our goal is to create an environment where all children can thrive, experience belonging, and encounter the love of Jesus. For some children, Sunday mornings are more successful when they have a little extra support. Our Hands and Feet Buddy Ministry exists to come alongside families and provide one-to-one care when it's helpful.

If you child would benefit from a little extra support on Sunday mornings, we encourage you to request a Hands and Feet Buddy! Our Hands and Feet Buddies partner with families to support a child during Kids Ministry on Sundays. A buddy’s role looks different for each child and may include things like offering gentle guidance, helping with transitions, providing reassurance, or simply being a steady, encouraging presence.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

STARTING THE CONVERSATION

A parent or caregiver reaches out to share that their child may benefit from additional support on Sunday mornings. This step is relational and pressure-free, we simply want to listen and learn.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CHILD

Together, we complete a brief buddy profile—either in writing or through a conversation or visit. This helps us understand your child’s strengths, needs, interests, and what helps them feel safe and successful.

PRAYERFUL MATCHING

After we understand your child’s needs, the Hands and Feet Core Leader and/or the Minister with Kids prayerfully begins looking for the right buddy or buddy team. You’ll be kept informed throughout

PREPARING FOR SUCCESS

While we look and pray for a buddy, we also gather resources that may support your child, such as visual schedules, lesson plans, sensory tools, hands-on manipulatives, and other thoughtful accommodations.

MAKING INTRODUCTIONS

Once a buddy (or buddy team) is confirmed, we’ll make introductions so you can begin building relationship together. We value trust and partnership, and we want you to feel confident and supported.

ONGOING COMMUNICATION

Parents communicate directly with their child’s buddy team—especially if their child will be absent or if something changes. This helps everyone care for your child with consistency and understanding.

CONTINUED SUPPORT

The Hands and Feet Core Leader regularly checks-in with buddy teams to offer encouragement, prayer, and additional resources as needed.
