What is an "Evangelical Free" church?
The term "Evangelical" expresses the conviction that it is only through the Good News (or "evangel" message) of Jesus Christ (His death and resurrection to remove our sin and its penalty) that we can be right with God.
The "Free" has its roots in the original development of the church to be free from state influence, and now refers to our form of church government being free from an outside central controlling church body.
LEFC is part of the Eastern District (EDA) of the EFCA. We support the EFCA through financial support, sending delegates to the annual conference, and in various other means.
