OUTREACH - "Making Disciples of Jesus Christ from all nations . . ."

From the beginning, God has sought worshippers from every tribe and tongue on the face of the earth. Early on, He spoke to Abraham saying, "Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation and I will bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." That blessing for every group of people on earth, was delivered through Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, and a direct descendant of Abraham. After atoning for the sins of the world, the Lord Jesus commanded His followers, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

LOCAL OUTREACH

Servant Evangelism - We attempt to show God's love in a practical way with simple acts of kindness, and as we go, we pray for and seek opportunities to share the Good News. Among other things, examples of servant evangelism include free car washes, leaf raking, drink giveaways, distributing batteries, and handing out "scotch" tape during the holiday season and shoveling driveways! These outreaches take place independently or in association with short term mission training three or four times per year. Small groups are encouraged to participate, and to initiate outreaches in their own neighborhoods.

Short Term team Training
Jesus said, ".. you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." The disciples were told to wait where there were until that happened. When it did, they immediately began to speak of God's power to a multitude of nations. The Gospel spread like wildfire, from Jersulam to Judea and Samaria and far beyond. Similarly, we believe that in the power of the Holy Spirit, we are responsible to take the good news first to our neighbors, to others nearby, and then to the remotest parts of the earth. Therefore, we provide practical training seminars for those hoping to join one of our short term mission teams. This training includes hands on outreaches to our neighbors and is required for anyone who wishes to receive support from LEFC. The final tdraining session for this school year will take place over four Sunday: April 11, 18, 25 and May 2 during second service at 10:50 AM in the Mill. DISASTER MINISTRY TEAM (DMT)

The DMT has been formed to respond to world disasters with practical help and with the Gospel message. In connection with local ministries, we seek to show the love of Jesus in a tangle way by ministering to the physical needs of those who have lost food, clothing, shelter, livelihood and loved ones. But our efforts don't stop there. The Lord said, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." The ultimate goal is to bring glory to the Father by leading more people into His eternal shelter.

For years, God has enabled LEFC to respond to disaters; hurricane Mitch in Honduras, the Tsunami in Indonesia, Hurrican Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana and Hurrican Ike in Galveston, TX. Some have also ministered after a flood in Eagle, Alaska where it is hoped that more will follow. A team is also now forming to minister to the survivors of the recent earthquake in Haiti.
